Anyone have experience with SWE roles in the less prestigious ministries? E.g. MFA, MHA, LTA, MAS
Was wondering if we are paid on the MX Scheme or is there a technology kinda scheme?

What are some small/niche stat boards or ministries that have same payscale as the more prominent ones yet relatively off the grid?

Hi guys. I have two offers:
One from a private IT company - around $4800
One from a gov agency, not govtech - $5500
Passionate about both positions.
I know the gov job is higher in terms of monthly salary. But this will be my first job and most people advise against working in gov as a first job?
Which would you go for? Any pros/cons? For context I'm a local fresh grad albeit my grades weren't very good.

Do you consider yourself a go-getter? If so, the private sector may be better for you. Tho ironically, the civil service also has leadership schemes (e.g. PSLP) which priorities younger officers (more runway to rise).
What you do need to consider though, is that it is often easier to transition from private into civil service mid-career then the other way around. So in your 30 odd years of a career, starting from private sector should give you more mobility in that sense.

How much salary (everything including bonuses) can one expect as a mid career candidate with 10yoe?
Just hoping for a ballpark figure as i understand salary may vary across agencies.

At 10 years of experience, you are likely either at an AD or DD role on the generic MX scheme. You will assume about 16 months of salary, which include 12x of base salary and about 4 months of bonuses (performance bonus, mid and end year bonus, 13th month).
AD salary for 10 YOE ranges between 5-7.5, DD between 7.5-10k. For 10 YOE you are probably looking at higher range of AD and lower end of DD. I'm guessing about 6.5 to 7.5k.
