How many years xp you have? Companies here are totally confused about the concept o senior. Concepts vary. Let's get to maths. How many years of xp?
And by the way. Singapore IT companies are generally "budget", with some hard to et exceptions. Here you are competing against very low budget IT pros that's just wanna get some pennies better than what they have. I would not change for 4k if I were u unless perspectives don't look good in MY... Remember accommodation here is not cheap

In SG (it's probably true in other places too), MNC vendors tend to pay higher than the local companies. Among them, principal vendors, global telcos and banks are probably the best paymasters. IT professionals, who want the best rewards, should consider these companies.
Also, SG being a hub city in APAC, you will find more principal vendors and global companies setting up shop here and that translates to more opportunities to the job seekers here.
From my perspective, I tend to believe that SG offers more opportunities than MY. Just look at how much FDI is MY attracting each year VS SG's. If you are young and adventurous, I think it's worthwhile to take the plunge to relocate and explore your career here. You may not get the best offer at first but once you start building your own network here, the reward will come.

What are examples of "principal vendors", and how well do they pay (say, for a Project Manager or Solution Architect)? thanks

It should be around 3.5 - 4k depending on your years of experience.
