If I were you I would consider hiring a recruiter to help. My sister is working in a foreign bank and she was recently head hunted. Didn't make the move in the end because her company counteroffered. Instant pay raise of 20%. If your work is valued by the market you might want to consider this via recruiters. Mark yourself to the market.

Hi, Thanks and appreciate your advices.
I have decided to talk to my boss next week after knowing how much a foreign talent of similar responsibilities are earning. It's about twice of mine which I find it ridiculous. I like my current job but I just can't survive with such a salary compared to peers. And also recently there are more and more work load and responsibilities. I have not had any major increments for the past 6 years and peanuts annual increment. Not even half of inflation rate. I guess it's time.

Looks right, was from the same jc. Most of my peers in the late 30s are near that low 5 digit per month pay in various fields, like myself (in the accounting line). But the Engineers who are section/department managers should be in the high 4 digit range or more
But quite a number took the civil service route (teachers, D*star, A*star) non-scholar, pay ranges from 6-9+.
Those in the second group seems to have more work life balance.
All these means very little, contentment is happiness. After you hit the 7-10K level, especially with double income, life should be quite comfortable, so set aside enough time for your family.

7-10k income times 2 isn't sufficient these days. 15k x 2 should be comfortable.

Looking at all the high income earners here, it is not surprising that property prices in Singapore will contiinue to rise.
Better to buy now than wait as more and more families seem to earn more every year.

I see people in late 30s to mid 40s are already saddled with heavy housing loan, so are not committing to another property.
Mid-40s onwards are getting risk-averse, hence are not buying.
Early to mid 30s are looking into ECs as govt is looking to launch 5000 units this year
Mid to late 20s are only looking at BTOs, and there are 25k units this year to choose.
Foreigners are not biting now due to additional stamp duty.

foreigners who aren't PRs are all rushing to become PRs so they don't get slapped with the ABSD stamp duty.
