How much do commercial accountants get paid? What are their normal working hours like?
I saw some of my clients leave work at 5:30pm daily or work from home. They earn $5k to $6k per month, with bonuses of 2-3 months. This is not the norm ?

Tbh if u work in Europe/US HQ MNC in SG u can achieve the same level of WLB… given that your direct boss and upper mgmt are not those who buy into the “stay late in office to show you are hardworking” toxic culture . If u see CN/local SME just run away as fast as you can. For the same process, a SME without good resources and system take 1 day instead of 1 hour

The high profit margin in big4 is due to low budget time and budget cost? End up associates need to use their own time?

No fixed working hours. Based on however fast or slow you take to finish your assigned work…

The profit margin at Big4 accounting firms is substantial, often around 40%. This is largely due to the considerable amount of time associates and managers put in, often working until 10 PM or even 12 AM. Meanwhile, the partners at the top reap significant profits.
Despite the high audit fees charged by Big4 firms, associates and managers receive comparatively low compensation. Ideally, the budgeted costs and time should be sufficient given the high audit fees, but partners deliberately set these budgets lower. As a result, associates and managers end up working overtime, using their personal time to meet these unrealistic targets.
