I didn't get the lecturer job after the second interview, I wonder why. Can someone explain what is this 'fit' they are looking for?

36 yrs old this year with 8 yrs teaching and managing exp, 2 yrs corporate exp. Interviewed for acad position in the North. Teaching exp is definitely relevant and exceeds the requirement.

Generally at least six years corp exp before u can start. Also the seniority in the private sector. Ur teaching exp could generally be viewed below what the polys view their own as well if u consider moving to the poly an upward movement.

If my experience is considered inadequate, why then was I invited for second interview? I held senior positions in educational institutions, such as HOD, head of sch etc.

Is there any way for the panel to review my case? Or the only way is to apply again when the position comes up again?

I assume that you had less industry experience than others who might had been applying for the same position (I apologize if I'm mistaken). My guess is that at your first round, the course manager and senior manager(s) recognized that while you were disadvantaged in this area, they may have found other qualities to consider and thus gave your application the benefit of the doubt and cleared you at this round. At your second round, the Directors' panel may had been interviewing more than one candidate for the same position, and in the final reckoning, felt that someone else was more qualified with equivalent qualifications, maybe again because of directly relevant experience.
Either way, if you made it to the second round and didn't get the offer, my sense of it was that it was probably a tough decision made on a small number of shortlisted applicants.

hi,
For poly lecturing jobs normally how long after the electronic applications close before you know you have been shortlisted for interview.
which is more valuable 10 years working experience or 10 year's teaching experience
Cheers

I am indeed v disappointed cos I Thgt second round is more or less confirmed. I think my over enthusiasm might have back fired on me. Poly envt seems to be quite slack so that's why they are uncomfortable with the level of enthusiasm shown. I asked the panel loads of questions, is that wrong?

If you said too much things, higher chance of saying something that deem you unsuitable to the job/culture etc. Instead of guessing, why not just ring your interviewer, esp the one who seems to be the keenest to hire you.
