Not to worry. You can still get into ministries and stat boards with cum laude.
I graduated 5 yrs before your batch so rest assured.
If you are from SOE, can consider doing policies in ministries or stat boards. There is more exposure to high profile policy portfolio.
Alternatively, try the Dept of Stats under MTI or statistic specialists at MOM. You will be paid better than regular MX scheme.
If you are from SOA, try the accountant scheme unser AGD, auditors under AGO or CAO under CAD. All are better paid schemes.

NUS/ NTU and SMU's grading scales aren't directly convertible.
B+ average is CAP 4 in NUS/ NTU (Second Upper) and GPA 3.3 in SMU (Cum Laude: 3.4-3.59).

that's 5 years ago. now everyone are flooding to civil/public service due to bleak outlook in the private sector. There are so many news of mnc cutting headcount now. and job market data is in a mess. with the slowing growth in the region (including china) and massive outflow of capital to the west, many companies are likely to hold back their hiring this year.

First job, try going into pte sector. Way much more exposure. Life will be tougher of course! But the immense opportunity over CS is worth it.
I have too many friends, after graduate went straight into CS. Guess what? after 20 years, they dun even dare to step out of their comfort zone. Too "specialised" in their field of work, too little "exposure" if you knw what I mean.
The career advancement is somewhat stagnant, just a few notches up their scale and more or less slowing down as they age or taken over by scholars and high flyers.
Do think twice before you set your sights just on CS. Unless the dept you are joining offers you alot of opportunities to excel and advance to higher appointments/division.

Hi all,
I work in ministry and have applied various jobs in stat board. Can I transfer my service from ministry to stat board so that I could still receive my full month bonus?

No. Transfer of service (and hence your current benefits) is normally restricted to inter-Ministry transfers. You'll have to resign from your Ministry and negotiate for similar benefits if offered by your Stat Board choice. Hence, you should get your bonus first and wait for the "required period" before tendering.

Hi guys!
Heard lots about MX scheme. Can anyone share more about PAL scheme?
I read that it's PAL 6 = MX 13 , is that true?
So what are the different PAL grades and salary range?
Also does they bonus payout equivalent to MX schemes?
BG: PAL schemes are used in PA
Can anyone share more? Experiences or from friends etc.
