looks like majority are from better courses, Econs, social sciences, FOH and doing well i gov. Makes me feel gov only prefer those degrees.

Can anyone from life-sciences (local uni) hons degree even enter gov (other than MOE)?
Apart from the fact that most require experiences.. feels depressing already... :'(

It's only through comparison with my colleagues then I knew where I stood (before my promo) which was rather sad. And I had to speak to my director before I was given the chance to 'show'. Bosses are important to one's promo so I can't blame others since i chose to stay on in the same dept for years as the thought of beginning all over again further demoralized me.
Even though your boss doesn't tell you the direct answer, your past performance grades and rate of promotion in relative to others will give you a gauge of your assessed potential. To raise a CEP, the performance grade given must be able to justify the increase.

Sometimes, it's not about doing more, but also depends on your impact of your contributions and quality of work.

Worry not, my fellow sci fac friend. Im in a ministry (sci deg), and a lot of my friends with sci degrees are in ministries and statboards as well. Some related, others not. In fact, a lot of my colleagues have degrees in chemistry. Try moh, mha, dso, dsta, hospitals etc. Lots of options. Your discipline doesnt matter so much unless its a specialized role youre applying for. Eg. Psychologist under spf, economist under economist scheme, commericial affairs officer, procurement officer etc. Comes down to interviews and whatever test they administer during those interviews. All the best!

Default cs grade and salary

Hi all,

Just got an cs offer which indicated the grade of HTS 11. May I know what grade it is? And the salary range for this grade?

Thanks a lot!

Understood that. It's still up to the bosses whom they wish to groom or give chances to perform. My sup and D said that doing routine work is not enough but those committees or project work are nominated by the bosses so whoever they wana promote will be given the chance to show. For me, I had to ask my D for such chances. If it's not due to bosses' chg, I might not even get a shot at my promo.

I put it explicitly in my work review, and had the conversation with my ROs.

I did talk to my big boss few years ago to give me chances like committee etc. But instead she gv all the chances to others to help them. I had many times wana resign or transfer cos someone ever told me if I can't chg my boss then chg my job or co lor. Finally the day came when my sup arranged for a conversation with my D who said that I hv been performing well but just that too low profile and to gv him some time to help me. So he really gv me chances to perform and that's how I gt promoted. To add on, my big boss was changed and I was promoted under another big boss.
