i think is very true
a freehold terrace in good condition cost 5million.
using a house price to income ratio of 10.
to support 5million, u need to earn 500k per year.
quite difficult doctors to live landed nowadays

Talking about doctors in probably internal medicine in restructured hospitals and jumping out to open their own clinic - be it GP clinic or specialist clinic or even paediatrician?

Is there a demand in private for “internal medicine”, sounds pretty lame cos most things are either sorted out by specialists or GPs in private.

It will get even more difficult for future generations of doctors.
SMA Hobbit is correct.
Actually it will get more and more difficult for EVERYONE in Singapore. The competition for land and space will be more and more intense. Good Luck!

This type of "generalist" specialist like Internal Medicine no head no tail one.
As everyone who has done rotations and postings knows, Internal Med is the dumping ground for things that are undifferentiated or that other departments/specialties do not want.
No money in this. The show HOUSE MD was a fantasy. No one pays doctors to think and come to diagnosis. They pay for investigations, procedures, treatment drugs and plans.
I think it would be hard to describe to a lay person what is an Internal Medicine Specialist vs a highly trained Family Medicine Specialist. (maybe the former is for adults only)
What can an Internal Medicine Specialist do that a Family Med cannot do?

Anything below a 10% pay increase is an insult. Why fam med RP starting is so low <8k while sub spect RPs can get 9 k

Don’t understand all the bitterness.
Fam med is and will always be the bottom rung of the ladder in terms of reputation and pay because GP / FM work generates very little revenue.
Patients also know that and they will not want to pay high to see a GP.
It is a fact of life that you have to suck it up if you choose this route.

Isn't fam med by pure volume? the more patients you see directly equates to how much more you can be paid?

Yes this is true for ALL doctors. Whether specialists or GP or FP. Volume.
But the rates paid per patient per hour is different for procedural specialists, surgeons, non procedural specialists and FPs and GPs.
There's a limit to how many patients you can see in an hour. And we all have 24h.

Agree. why fm sc gets lesser compensation than subspec sc
And they havent make fm sab yet
Govt shld do something abt it
Firstly make fm sab
Secondly revoke the right of gp to practise independently
Unless they practise under supervision of fcfps
Mmed also not enough. Mmed can be service registrar or rp level
Only fcfps can call themselves true fm
Then each case rp or mmed see already, need to be cleared by fcfps
