thanks to stupid delays i've been completing dec and mar year end urgent reporting in july to sep. then sep have to start for june year end job, nov to dec for sep year end job... threw letter last month, cannot deal with this ******** already. i wish i was in audit 10 years ago when it was easier and less ********, now all kinds of stupid patterns
There hasnt been off peak since 2020. Partners so stingy.
This is what happens when public accounting is profit focused
Partners keep wanting to raise audit fee while trying to reduce headcount
U wonder if the audit is actually independent as partners have conflict of interest ti be greedy

Each of the firm will have some control measure ( on each audit firm audit quality manual on the number “high profile” engagement that /manager/partner can handle, back to back /continuous YE engagement eg like DeC, march, June , Sept

It is a red flag that will compromise quality if one manager/partner have a lots of engagements that are backtoback/double/triple deck high profile engagement.

This is crucial as team in charge/manager/partner are the important gatekeeper for the audit quality risk for the engagement.

I never regretted on all the career that i made, i treat it as a lesson/to move forward.
Once you in the work force for quite some time, maybe 4-5 years or so, you will realise that have a good team, supportive boss and company with opportunities to grow > hoop for other high salary job

But one need to understand, you are always being compensate on how much value you can bring to the table.

Audit is tough.
Glc finance is tough too.
Listed co finance is tough and have long hour too.

If one want wlb, you can do the lowest end acc job, admin acc exec (2.5k or low) , still need OT.

There is no high pay , great wlb, except onlyfans I think

Feel free to correct me

You cant compare to last 10 years , different generations have their fair share of obstacles in audit, it is just the nature of industry.

10 years ago do not have shared drive portal etc, you will hard time to vouch doc away from client office

Are you willing to carry 4-5 thick audit files around in the recycle bag to client office? To and fro.

Nowadays we can have a quick team calls to share screen and discuss issue , wfh at your comfort

10 years ago they call me strawberry, so I worked hard to prove them wrong.

Now if you say the younger one strawberry, they say “orh”, pack up and go home.

Ok but

If today you are Partner, will you push for welfare changes or profit driven instead?
