It's all about the process and branding. Technical skill is secondary. Due to the nature of audit. How good quality do you actually need in audit? Not talking about being the best neurosurgeon or what.

Tan Ah Seng PAC can have the most technically brilliant 40 YOE senior auditor god, but no big client will ever appoint them because:
1. No global brand name
2. Not enough manpower to do large scale audits especially for group companies
3. No systems and processes to handle large scale audits
4. No overseas network for cross border work

This is very true so why are you hiring ugly ppl to your global network?

The old auditors also from b4. They start up and hold other position elsewhere

The associates and seniors are talking among themselves, what's the point of vouching?

They say that what the audit partners and audit managers can do, they also can do it in terms of abilities.

Basically to say they are as smart as audit managers and audit partners, just that AM and AP were born earlier and joined big4 earlier only.

My mentor once said, Wherever you go, it's always the same. Companies usually look at the number of years you've worked, so it doesn't necessarily mean that if you're more capable, they will promote you faster.

The Big 4 recognize your capability by promoting or progressing you on a yearly basis.So, if you are keen on having a head start in the Big 4, it's best to attend a university for 2 years. Don't bother with a 3-4 year university.
