all sgd/annum
2016 - 1st contract job 36k
2017 - 2nd job 84k
2018 - basic 3% increment
2019 - basic 3% increment
2020 - left to do phd, only stipend, 60k
2021 - still phd 60k
2022 - change job, start from near fresh grad level, 91k
all IT sector. now 2022 data engineer in china tech.
what do u guys think. quite sad yah. after 5-6 years but some fresh grads getting paid this much. hope it scales better from here on cause not going to switch industry/role much already

what was the point? people get PHD to become professors cause they love teaching...
could have gotten at least 120k / year in 2021, that was the peak of the hiring / crazy TC with tech giants everywhere throwing money everywhere.
anyway cheer up, very very few fresh grads getting as much as u anyway at least in this crappy market. no point comparing top 0.5% fresh grads to urself rofl you're not top 0.5% buddy, not when u get a PhD only to go back to a generalist role, seriously wtf
