this thread is making me nervous. Is it really that bad? The pay and workload sound rough. I don’t want to end up regretting my choice.

To be honest. Yes it is that bad. I have people in the department leaving the industry to do insurance. The pay is not great, you will not starved but for the amount of work you need to do and the stress you are put through, it's just not worth it. Not joking cos most of the people in the department are youngsters cos cannot break bond, or oldies who are too old to venture out.

One more frustrating point: it seems like the stealth salary increase only happened for new staff (less than 4 YOE). Those of us who have been in the profession for years are seeing no adjustment in our pay. It’s incredibly disheartening to watch new hires come in with higher starting salaries while we continue to struggle with stagnant wages.

This approach feels like a slap in the face to those who have dedicated years to the profession. Our experience and loyalty should be rewarded, not overlooked. It’s no wonder so many experienced staff are considering leaving the field. I heard a high flyer AHP at NHC left recently because of this as well.

Cos they use high starting to attract the innocent newbies, but they stagnant their pay by using the anti poaching tactic and small pay increment. They won't increase oldies pay cos we are deemed 'too expensive'.

One plan is just marry a HO or MO and quiet quit. They’re too busy to date outside sometimes. But be aware many doctors cheat (senior cons who are married try to date me and my colleagues)…

Smile Pay range

Anyone knows the updated pay scale or range in pte vs public hospitals thus far?
Got these from asking around some contacts
But they do have had some yoe.
Is it typical?

JG 11 - E 3.5-5k
JG 12 - E 4.5-6.5k
JG 13 - SE 5-7.5k
JG 14 - AM 6-8k
JG 15 - M 7-9k
JG 16 - SM 7.5-10k

How long before we progress to nx level?
Annual Salary seems too slow compared to my peers starting at 4k+ in their career

Does having Masters and PHD truly get quicker Promotions?
Why are progression and promotion so slow at SingHealth??

It’s good to have but not necessary to jump to principal AHP. But then taking such post graduate is not worth it because the increment is a measly 200-300 for masters and they will bond you for 1 year? Don’t get me started for PhD. If you taking PhD, you can kiss your career goodbye because you will be stuck at the hospital for the next 8-10 yrs (4 yrs study + 4-5 years bond).

You ownself have decide if you want to do post graduate. I have friends who really want to self improve and pursue it but to me it’s not worth…

Definitely nope. I have masters but I'm stuck at JG13 for 9 years.
