I am also an older millennial but i prefer the mindset of the younger ones.
Must thank Gen Z for flexible work culture, flexi work attire and refusal to do OT. I heard big 4 auditors had to wear long sleeve shirt and tie to office during mid 2000s and they had to OT until 3am in that attire lol

That’s the effort of the younger millennial, not Gen Z.

Noticed people use “Gen Z” very loosely whenever they just want to bash and complain about the younger ones.
In reality the true 零零后 is only 23 this year, most especially the guys haven’t even graduated or join the workforce yet.
As students without corporate experience their thoughts would be affected by what they read online. And you guys talking about OT to 10pm, who wants to join?

My gen knows that we need good work ethics + technical skills to rise and make a name/reputation in our immediate industry.
But at the same time, we don't buy into the Boomer outdated notions of blind loyalty to 1 company, because no company will ever be loyal to you. We always keep a lookout for better options, and seize those opportunities.
I'm happy to provide a comfortable middle class life for my family and kid.
The problem with you Gen Z people, is that you don't know what you want. If your goals are condo & eventually landed, 1 or 2 cars, can send your kids overseas to Ivy, LSE eventually, then you need to work hard & be smart about it.
Problem is you want the lifestyle that social media sells you, but you refuse to work hard or smart to get there

okay then can you explain why ex-big 4 hiring managers themselves are saying they don't want to hire ex-auditors anymore

Ya lor. Why put in the effort when the company consistently hinders your progress? Deloitte has just shifted the promotion, increments, and bonus timeline from the usual July cycle to September.

Not sure about OP but I'm facing the same issues actually. My batchmates who jumped before/during covid had no issues getting FP&A roles but those of us who are trying to move after covid are facing issues. Feedback was always "Not looking for big 4 auditors". I'm wondering if I have to do 3 years of GL accounting first before getting jumping into FP&A but that's time I don't want to waste.
