Drafts sent to her would come back with numerous questions which showed nothing but a lack of knowledge, and you'd be left asking IMDA colleagues for answers (she would also never point you to the right person, thus leading in some cases to a wild-goose chase as different IMDA divisions oversee different aspects of one area).
To add on to the package, she was terse at best, and often came off as rude and curt. While this could be forgiven as a personality quirk, she certainly knew how to turn on the charm around those above her.
Hope you're doing okay working with her - word to the wise: be firm and stand your ground, as she doesn't come from a place of knowledge or substance.

Is this in IMDA or PDPC? I heard of this person who joined PDPC, not sure if it is the same person you are talking about

Thanks for your encouragement, I will reluctantly accept the start up offer because I want to quit IMDA asap.

And does the startup offer you proper growth and development opportunities in say the next 1-2 years which can make up for the temporary pay cut? Will you get adequate pay increment to make up for the pay cut? Is the start up something you int to do and keen on? (cause usually start up culture is damn cui esp for tech industry)
some things to mull over!! Anyway, you might want to consider other places like Govtech as well? If IMDA rly too cui, if you're ok w the above pointers then u take the startup first and continue looking elsewhere. Otherwise can try tahan at IMDA first till you find something better than the startup offer. Update us!

It's a 25 per cent reduction from my current salary, although it's much lower, I am prepared to accept because I really want to get out of IMDA. I even thought of resigning without a job. Now that I have an offer waiting for me, it's considered a bonus already. For this role, at least I know I will be working with real tech folks and a CEO who is a tech expert, and can get to apply what I learned from my degree so there is growth and development.

There is even one who faithfully goes to her office daily at a specific time to share about other colleagues. The guy is a slacker and not a team player and yet she gave him an excellent rating.
She gaslights her staff a lot and screams at them if she isn’t happy with them. During after office hours and weekends, she still expects them to reply her WA messages at her beck and call but if they were to “chase” her for urgent approval during her non-working hours, she would blast at them. It’s like walking on eggshells every day when I’m working there.
Before I joined HCC, I was confident and doing well in my previous organisation. I joined IMDA because I thought it would be meaningful to contribute to the Infocomm sector in a different way. But it was the worst decision I’ve made. During my time there, the toxic environment perpetuated by the bosses and some colleagues made me lose my confidence. Every time before I send out any email, I would second guess myself because you never know when the next round of scolding or sarcastic remarks would come. It’s easier to tell me to learn to ignore the comments. But if you face them on a daily basis, it takes a toll physically and emotionally. When I left HCC, I was at the lowest point in confidence and self esteem.
I’m doing well in my current organisation and my bosses appreciate me and recognise my capability. It just proved to me that I was not as stupid or incapable as JK had made me feel.

I still remember during the early days of covid when it was still within wuhan, JK made the entire HCC do a random BCP on a sunday night. There was no strong reason to do it on a sunday night at all, she could have at least waited till monday to do it. That bitch just wanted impress TKH and other higher ups that she was able to swiftly mobilise her team on a non-working day that's all.
