yes if what you studied is relevant to your current job. (and recognized by the govt)

another condition is that you currently earning less than what a fresh grad degree holder earns when they just entered.

example. If you studied a relevant degree. but you earn 4k now. But a fresh grad only gets about 3.5-3.8k, you will not have a revised salary, but stick to your current one.

source: my own ministry practice. not sure if it applies to all.

A B-grader in the same MX scheme in other ministries with the same years of experience and same CEP and doing similar job (e.g. HR or policy work) gets perhaps around $300 to $350 MI at MX12. And don't even get me started on A graders. MHA HR needs to wake up their idea on talent appreciation and retention. It is a place for someone to coast along, not a place for someone with talent because your share of the pie will always be lesser than what you deserve. No wonder so many talented people there have quit and moved on to greener pastures. They can depend on scholars, but look what happened to Peter Lim and Ng Boon Gay...
Maybe. Heard from colleagues in MHA that MHA HR dept is full of promises but until now never fulfil a single one. Esp for the HASE scheme. Fren thinking of leaving MHA.

Yup of course. Anyway, MI is nearly fixed at $241 per year for C grader.

The CS tend to exploit title inflation to make up for pay. In my company, if you are senior manager, you are already looking at $12k pm. A director in the company would be looking at a pay package of $20k+ pm and share options.

But then, who I am to judge. I know there are people who clamour for "big sounding" titles to show off to friends, relatives (especially in-laws) and strangers - never mind if their salary is low.

Different strokes for different folks.

I too have that thinking.

Considering a role similar to a senior assistant director. Wondering how much expected salary to indicate.

Thanks all!

In CS, it is not the title that is tied to the pay, but the scheme and its corresponding job grade. An Assistant Director at MTI is a fresh grad at MX Grade 13 with its equivalent fresh grade Grade 13 pay. An Assistant Director in another Ministry say MHA could be someone with about 7 to 10 years of working experience at MX Grade 11 so the pay is naturally higher with bigger responsibilities.

Similarly, a Senior Assistant Director can be anybody with just 1 to 2 years of experience to maybe 10 to 15 years. So you need to know what is the scheme and the job grade in order to know the expected salary range.

Just to put things in context, the Permanent Secretary is the highest ranking civil servant in a Ministry. He or she is usually at Grade 6 to 8. Just a secretary you'd say...? Fancy title really don't mean much in CS. I have heard of people with just "Senior Specialist" or "Senior Analyst" titles earning at least 10k to 15k...

Joined a Stat Board with 2 years experience.

MX13 Equivalent?

2014: Lower $4K, Grade C (Default?)
2015: Lower $5K, Grade B (Increment plus salary adjustment)
2016: Mid $5K, Grade B

Anyone knows when I will be promoted? I got feedback say I lacking some qualities although my work is recognised and good. But I feel extremely unbalance right now because I have been working for 5 years, and everyone my age who newly joins is always 1 rank higher than me. Or is it because of my results? Just pass from local uni only.

Are you doing anything besides your core work? Like cross division committee work?
