Yes, if you're working for AGC with the view of staying in service long term. I'm talking about the next 10 years to forever, and not the next 1 to 3 years.
It's a long long road with no plan B cause exit options are far and few between. You need to be really really committed to the cause.
I tried and left after a year. LOL. I'm now much happier practicing gen lit with the occasional crim/clas file.

What are the exit options available for AGC crim or civil division? I want to work in public service but not all my life. Will firms take me for civil liti after a stint at the AGC?

Maybe if you have some kind of specialisation, like in fraud/white collar crime, or you've been involved in drafting legislation.

I'm the OP who posted about being in AGC for the next 10 years to forever.
Depends on how long your stint is in AGC and whether you've diversified your skills while in AGC.
I have a friend who joined AGC (farmer) but spent his weekends and after hours writing and publishing academic pieces on tort, contract and employment law. So after 5 years with AGC, he was able to transition smoothly into a non-crim liti role with a big4 team (even then, not at the pqe he deserved tbh).
Other friends who've literally just done crim have not been so successful. Most of them had to settle for small and med law firms doing gen lit work.
