This is the only offer I can get. Should I take it or leave the legal profession?

Increment how much? Think just take it because other industries pay even less

What is your area of practice? $4.5k for 2.5pqe is a very bad deal and you should actively search for alternatives.

Depends on how badly you want to stay in the industry.
If its the only way to stay, then take the job. The climb back up to where you were will be painful and difficult, but you can still call yourself a lawyer.
Although, i've had friends who waited jobless for over half a year and finally got offered a better position in a better firm for more pay.

Yeah but the prospect of 6 months without job is enough to mess up w the mind.
How your friends managed to go through the 6 months without a job?
