Crazy rich asian. This is not counted then.
Every month of being jobless you’re dipping into your own savings
Mortgage, loans, bills etc.
If you have retired parents, with no income, and money is always a concern, you definitely need a job.

Then you have your answer, no?
Doesn't seem like you have a choice tbh, since i don't know of any entry level job that can match 4.5k.

Reading the previous posts - let me share my own story hope it helps
I used to be in a certain firm that pays me as a SG NQ assoc $9.5k
End up lasted only for about a year (11 months to be exact) - Wont disclose reason here but if you want to know go ask your seniors...
After that no firm could afford to match and they did not want to hire me
One firm (approximately 7 fee earners) offered me after 6 months and was willing to pay me 5.5k.
Did I accept? Yes. After 6 months once you have been out of job for a while, you cling on whatever opportunities that come by.

Do you mind me asking if you are a local or foreign grad? I mean the poster immediately before this one and the $4.5k offer poster?

Maybe consider if the appropriate comparison should be the employment market for 2 PQE lawyers. $4.5k for 2 PQE is seriously far off if you're looking at the mid-large firm scene.
Other points to consider: (1) Bonus season is coming soon and many people will be moving. (2) Taking a big pay cut also accumulates over time, affects future raises, and even if you jump firms thereafter that's a risk that they will bargain down your pay based on your last-drawn. Although you could try for firms in which pay progression is lock-step. (3) Whether you have a black mark that makes you a difficult choice to employ.

I am the poster you quoted above.
I agree in principle to everything you've said.
It seems to me, however, that the affected individual may not have the means (or appetite) to wait it out. Waiting for a better opportunity comes at the cost of being jobless for the next 2-3 months at least (bonus in December, one month notice will be Jan). It's one of those rock and a hard place situations and really depends on how long you can survive without a job.

I think all the cry babies should stop whining in this thread and heed Indranee's advice.

Honestly wtf is the point of your post? What value add does this give to the forum? Self-righteous sophistry like this does nothing to address the fact that if you’ve got bills and a mortgage to pay, you need a job unless you’ve got parents who are rich enough to tide you through a prolonged period of unemployment.
The guy you quoted made a fair point. You on the other hand added nothing but some lofty mantra which is completely divorced from economic reality. You are the one who needs to wake up.
