Drive grab.
Just tell people you’re an entrepreneur in the transportation business.
Say that one day you will be the owner of a logistics business.
Now you need to drive grab to get logistics operational experience.
Good idea?

I need real ideas.
Does yr idea apply to both male and female? I hv no car, unless u are talking abt renting.

Is Grab the only solution to unemployment?

What do you mean? Driving grab is not a real idea? You can earn good income if you work hard. You can also give tuition, do contract work, part time work and many more. If you just stay at home, you will not progress much. Go out, network and make new friends.

If you don’t have a car, you can rent.

I guess depends on the length of the contract. If less than a year, i will take the perm job. And I'm not sure what you mean by mid career. Personally i feel if you are 30 yrs old +/-, then contact job is ok so that your next pay can be based on that. Higher salary the next round. If you are close to 40 yrs old, then perm job. Job stability is definitely more important.

Will you quit a new job if you feel your personal safety is compromised ? I am not going into details what happened. I am into my new job only 3 weeks but since yesterday incident, I am abit in trauma and today I applied for no pay medical leave and skip work. I am still considering whether to throw my resignation letter or not.

Yes, I had quitted too like you after 1 month. In my previous job I was nearly raped by my boss, and was indecently touched several times as well. Did u got sexually harassed as well?

Thanks for yr reply.
the contract is 1 year and given the scope of project, it might be extended.
The downside of the perm role is just that the pay is 30% lower compared to contract, which also means I am taking a significant paycut from my previous job. Even if I switch job next time, it will be hard to get back the old pay since the difference is big.
The contract pay is closer to my old pay.
I am close to 40. So it’s a consideration between pay vs stability.

Do you view that the perm job is really that "stable" job ie good company, nice benefits and you can "relax" until your next big job ?

If not, then i will take the contract cos with a 40% hike, you are the same as taking the perm job for 2 years. And like you said, it may be extended.

I will however be very active in looking for new opportunities while in the contract role while seizing every opportunity to do more as well to become a perm. Also be wise in saving up aggressively for the while.

Finally i dont think there is no perm job these days. Everyone just does a job rotation or hop every few years. And companies downsize no matter whether it is perm or not. We need to aim for FIRE !

Both are big companies...Would hv taken up the contract role if I were much younger. it’s difficult to choose now.
