My friend super gungho in the end insead reject and go smu mba
Recent grad also can find job

You dont sound like the insead type
Bro, sad to say that reality on the ground is entirely on the contrary. I have no reason to lie to you - just do a quick LinkedIn search (key word = 19D) and you can easily identify a couple of us.

There’s no such thing as confirm got job one - every year Insead churns out 2k+ mbas. Plus there’s so many other top mbas coming into the job market.

And yes, of course I know how hard it is to get into insead - I took gmat twice and spent 2 months+ on the admission essays.

Btw, there also isn’t an “insead type”. We come from over 90+ countries and diversity is one of the key strengths of the insead brand.

Which industry and role did your friend get into, if I may ask?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought HBS graduation is around May?

Did not anticipate that there will be covid 19

stay positive and continue the fight bro! seems like hiring sentiments are slowly picking up here in APAC beginning June (from a LinkedIn research article). try tapping onto the HBS and your undergrad alum network?

As Dave Ramsey would say, travelling is something you can only enjoy AFTER you've made your money and have enough to retire on. It should happen perhaps in your 50s or 60s (and you can take your children to experience travelling to an overseas country then). Fine if your parents already made it and could afford to take you with them on their overseas trips. But NOT when you haven't even started work right after graduation (after losing many thousands on education)! What a face palm move!

Grad trips are usually seen as a rite of passage. Everyone sees the world differently, don’t be such a hater LMAO

The monetary value of travel depreciates faster than a car. A few thousand dollars spent buying the trip can depreciate to zero within days.

What of value do you retain from it? Nothing. Even a car has scrap value. Even a spent mobile phone can be sold to a ah beng shop.

Also up until the early 2000s, no one felt entitled to a reward after passing their final exams. What is a grad trip? A REWARD for passing exams?! Needing a break after SCHOOL? Sounds really ridiculous, feeble, and infantile.

How about actually working hard for a decade first before needing a BREAK or a REWARD?

Gosh, so many Schadenfreudes/Karens/self-righteous people here.

If you have nothing constructive or helpful to say, just keep your toxic comments to yourself.

Karma is a boomerang.

It looks easier for a fresh grad to secure a job in this period. The government is pushing the public and private sector to ramp up hiring for them, and traineeships are reserved for fresh grads.

I am unable to get an interview more than 6 months after leaving my last job. Tried applying for the SGUnited Traineeships and the rejection is very fast and they don't even look at your application.

Even though I state a very big cut in my expected salary, no employer is biting. I am considering going blue collar if this prolongs, before we open our borders. Then even blue collar jobs will be unavailable.
