Just to share. My mum had a hip fracture recently. She has to go to a community hospital after discharged from a hospital. I was shocked to learn that a bed without air-conditioning and TV, and shared with 11 other people was being charged $300/day not including other miscellaneous expenses like medication, physiotherapy session, etc. This is a part private/public community hospital. It is more expensive than in a public hospital or having a full-time maid to look after them. It would have been better if they are staying on their own as they will pass the mean test. But they are staying with me and we failed the mean test. I saw some of them staying there for more than a month. Imagine the big bill of $9000/mth. My mum has the PG card. How about us who are just above average and no PG card. The $10,000 is not unrealistic for those retiring in 10 years time. Medical bill will be even more hefty.

Thank you for supporting my case. Again, I know it's very approximate. But I just know somewhere down the like, not that I wish for it, my parents will experience a medical bill. That's why I subconsciously thinking of setting aside $40k for my mom's and dad's medical expenses.

Our parents medisave will be wipe out in no time. That is why government knew it and keep giving money to those Senior citizen. They that recently again. I am not sure if they can continue to do that and whether such scheme will continue for our generation. They keep encouraging multi-generation staying under one roof. The current social payout scheme seem to penalize those staying together. It's time for them to review it. It is just like the chas card before PG comes about. Fortunately, my parents have accumulated a decent amount of wealth. Otherwise, the children will have to bear the medical expenses. Imagine if you are the only child and between you and your spouse will have 4 parents to look after. It can be really stressful in both mental and economic terms.

Reporting

Would you quit if your boss keep bullying you and maligning you ?

Infront of customer say you things like ,' Sorry ah, my staff very stupid' etc.. Then anytime can malign you.

It is not one time thing. I have been enduring this boss for coming 2 years, recently getting worse.

Should I endure until I got a new job ? It is unbearable.

I have 3 recruiters called me today and said the same thing, job market is bad and can't be choosy. I staying at the east-end, the jobs they have mostly are at Jurong East and Boon Lay.

I got a job offer but the role have to go India for training, and my parents are worry and ask me to give up as it is not really safe for ladies. Is there any ladies out there went to India for business trip before?

Yeah. I've been there for 1 month. It's perfectly fine. Chances are you'll be in the hotel/office most of the time anyway.

I would say 'Go at your own risk'. There was a newspaper report of how a female lawyer who went to India for just one day and was shot to death when a group of militants barged into the hotel she was staying in.

Better to choose another job.
