critical thinking is a prerequisite to being critical. no brainer to why we're lacking in creativity too as compared to other developed nations. our educators themselves have been 'trained' to accept things for what they are, and in turn probably mould their students as such.
this 'hypocrisy' could be due to lack of trust over teachers' competency to deliver certain issues that are seen to be of national importance. but main problem is poor communication in the first plc, which resulted in a lots of suspicions and negative perception.

This is ridiculous. Teaching experience doesn't mean much in the private sector if someone were to leave the service. Similarly, private sector experience is meaningless when it comes to one's ability to teach. Just because someone was an engineer, lawyer, or whatever it doesn't mean they know how to handle a teenager in the classroom.

Not this Singapore is worse than other developed countries rubbish again. So many Singaporeans hold up the Scandinavian countries as the model. Meanwhile over there literacy rates are dropping

So mid career switchers deserve to earn fresh grad teacher salaries?
People with industry experience bring quite a lot to the table that single-career teachers may never be able to.
