this means you should be at least GEO5 and have promoted at least twice in 6 year
You are relatively better off than most teachers.
If you are unhappy with your current pay, you should move to the private sector where the sky is the limit

Local uni grad? Graduated at around 2016/2017 perhaps?
G2 to G5 within 6 years?
Are you a scholar?

8k gross is impossible for first career 6 YOE. They have to be either a mid-career, or they are lying.
I have knowledge of a high-ish tier scholar who graduated pgde in 2017, who got geo5 this April. Male, NSman, first class hons (last time starting pay was differentiated by hons class, don't know about now). 6.9k gross only.
Even if you are a PSC scholar and you hit seo1 at 6 YOE (yes, this exists), it's mathematically impossible to be at 8k gross unless you enjoy a special formula for higher increments compared to your peers.

Yeah. Anyone who claims they are drawing $8k with 6 years of experience is lying.
1-2 years to promote from geo 2 to geo 3. Standard cohort promotion.
2 years to promote from geo 3 to geo 4, and another 2 years to geo 5. This is super accelerated considering that normal people takes 5-8 years to promote for each paygrade.
8k is close to the ceiling of geo5, which is what someone will get after many years in that paygrade. For someone newly promoted, their salary is probably at the bottom or middle of the salary band. A newly promoted geo5 with limited YOE should be drawing around 6.5k-ish.
Furthermore, during last year's salary revision, geo 4s and 5s have the lowest increment.
OP just fishing for attention

Can anyone share what can teachers do beside being a tutor if decided to throw letter?
Work is getting very tiring and affecting health

On average, how many years of teaching would an average worker need for reach 8k?

that’s the unhealthy thing abt being a teacher too long / little knowledge or exposure to outside world. connect back to frens outside n talk to them abt their industries
