If the Senior doesn’t intend to stay long, they probably won’t see the benefit of training the next batch.

Sorry, most people are just selfish and look after own interest.

Genuine mentors who care about your well being are few and far between.

They DO exist, and I had the privilege of having one, but who you meet and who you work up is your own luck.

Yea.. I can imagine that happening.

The change is too abrupt.. there is a generation gap in just 5 years.

It’s frustrating because I see both sides as someone aged in the middle.

That previous generation may think you folks are weaklings and strawberries, while you think they’re mental and workaholics.

But please forgive them if they lack empathy, and believe me when I say there were batches that went through many worse days than you while getting much less pay.

May I ask those who have risen to sm level and above, is it really all worth it? I have seen many of my sm looking soulless and miserable. Singles one are toxic as heck. Married one doesn’t seem very happy with their marriage either. Yes, you earn big bucks but is it really all worth it at the expense of exchanging time with your loved ones for those dollars and cents? Some even look sickly like they will kick their bucket any time also.

It's not 2010, exits suck these days. Entry level FP&A jobs are getting offshored while corporate accounting roles pay 4-5k only but you have to handle GST and conso since SG is the HQ. Consulting and advisory are still having frozen headcount so good luck jumping there. Business analyst roles are becoming IT roles now. The issue is just you're not even exchanging time for big bucks or useful work experience so tf you're OTing for?

Sorry if I'm really pessimistic because the 2 highest earners in my batch is the property agent and the influencer.

Anyway the married SMs probably married fellow auditors so don't worry, their marriage likely won't fall apart. In fact, there's rarely auditors here who get serious health issues like heart, thyroid, gastro issues like you see in other countries' forums. They'll probably have super eyebags but won't actually kick the bucket.

first off, who cares if we're both leaving in under 6 months time?

secondly, i hated spending so much time coaching juniors so closely, only for them to say uhhuh im not interested in accounting nor audit

can you people please read about the job on social media first before joining? it's the age of information, these things are all readily available for you guys.

Are you pricing yourself out of the market or are you valuing the wrong skillset? For e.g. maybe excellent english skill isn't a top consideration for accouting jobs. Just the same as great creativity skills is not pivotal in a factory worker job or a masters degree is rarely the consideration for a sales based job like real estate agents. Besides companies usually have to pay more for foreigners due to S-Pass or EP requirements
U are denying a fact. Is npt singaporean cant do it, is local DONT WANT.

You’ll be surprised how many people in the past chose Accountancy as their major thinking it’s mathematics-related but got surprised at the very first accounting lecture..

Language of business, financial statements, debits and credits what’s all this…
