Serious post here - if you’re feeling pent up negative emotions, talk to someone.
Small bits of unhealthy thoughts can cumulate over time and lead to clinical depression.
Ultimately it’s just a job, and you can leave anytime you want.

Were the new hires not briefed or warned before accepting their offer?
I was given a realistic picture of expectations during the University career fair talk so I knew exactly what I was going into.
Of course, there are still some people who over estimate their ability to handle the challenging environment, but you really should be mentally prepared before starting work.

Just a heads up to new graduates:
If you think audit is not for you, might as well don’t come big4. Whatever the HR or whoever tells you that the work life balance is okay/ average, it’s a lie. Don’t be scammed by what they say because they want you of course. Also the intakes for graduates have declined due to low pay with loads of work( meaning you have to work like crazy).. Not just peak period, but if you’re unlucky enough can be the whole year peak for you depends on the year end.. Heard of graduates that already want to leave after a year , too tiring etc etc… This results in the fall in new hires of fresh graduates.. It is also in the news from the minister, can check it out on ISCA talk.. I feel sad for those graduates who think there is work life balance but no, don’t get scammed by those HRs etc.. They only want you to join and being unaware of the work.. Hope this helps those graduates joining us this upcoming intakes or in future…

Not sure about you, but the seniors I met at the career fair were very upfront and honest about the working life.
They gave me the list of pros and cons which were all truthful and I made the decision for myself.

Of course when attending career fair, they will be nice because if they don’t sound nice, they won’t be able to attract graduates right? Does it make sense to you… Reputation is very important to uphold in the firm.. I have attended career fair before.. But in reality, it turns out to be unexpected in life.. nowadays with a lack of manpower/ fewer intakes, the seniors will throw the work to juniors to do..
Similar story: when buying insurance from those insurance companies, they will sound very genuine/ kind etc, but once you have bought insurance from them, they don’t be as nice as before since you’ve purchased insurance and they have earned commissions.. moral of the story is never get scammed by HRs etc because they will never be as nice once you know/ work with them in workplace..

Don’t be scammed by those seniors etc. because In reality they are not as nice as what you think previously. They Throw the work to juniors.. The reason why they are nice because it’s to uphold the reputation in the firm

Yes that’s true.. in fact, there are so many seniors so the one you are talking to at career fair may not be the ones you’ll be working with..it depends on luck.. nevertheless, graduates should consider why they take up the role of audit seriously because the work can never be as easy as what you’ve expected.. going career fair is one thing to understand but don’t get scammed by the HRs there because they are just giving sweet talks to uphold the firm’s reputation only/ ********ing everything good

Vicious cycle bro. When you become senior, you will confirm will toss work to junior.

Lately I’ve started encountering associates who just walk out the door when time is up regardless whether work is completed.
New normal?

It’s normal.. they walk out and will say will do work at night but no they didn’t do. They will give excuses that they got family dinner etc..
this shows why this generation don’t want to do audit already.. no point forcing them to do when they are not interested as the days go by
