That 2 yr contract thing seems to be the normal these days. But my impression was that female fresh grads from local unis would get 3.3k.

Considered good pay already. I started out in the private sector with 2.9k...

Currently in a SB, i was offered 4.2k with 3 years experience, 2nd lower with NS. Everywhere is 2 years contract nowadays.

FYI: they offered me on a 2-year contract basis
Got the same offer.. Wondering if I should take up Accenture instead as they are opening me at 4450 basic pay (incl 400 transport+allowance). But I am not sure i can take the work-life balance there.

How dare you talk about work life balance when you are so young? When I started working I never saw the sun. In the office before sunrise, out of office at night. Always be in before your boss and leave the office after your boss leaves, no matter how late, even if it means past midnight. Focus on your work only, hours are important. Do not show your emotions even if there is personal or family crisis at home as this is professionalism. I enforce the same standards strictly on all staff under me.

To add on, my first boss did not allow me to take leave on my anniversaries. After time I realised that he was correct as that was professional. Some staff dare to apply for leave for frivolous things like birthdays of children or school performances even. All will be rejected.

That is a shitty company, that is not a place where people want to go.

Nowadays people are more picky on job hunt.

Cannot be too far, must pay at a certain amount, must have work life balance, cannot have too many red tape, many leaves, flexible working hour etc..

That was Singaporean work ethic in the 1970s and 1980s, now you can only find it in Malaysians.

I may be a fresh grad but that does not mean I have not been 'exposed to the sun'. Not every fresh goes through the life of Sec>JC>Army>Uni>Work. I've worked the entirety of my polytechnic life and part time for 3 years of university, with a 1 year full-time internship exposure working 8-6 with lots of OT. It is truly tiring to use every single cell of your brainpower for 12-16 hours a day sustaining on kopi-o kosong.

I sincerely wish you all the best, but for me, as long as there are options available, I would like to make my decision informed and based on the amount of workload that I want to handle or go through. Thanks for your input anyway.

Why not? And why do you assume that I am young or that all has been sunshine and rosy my entire life? Not every fresh grad goes through the direct path of Sec>JC>Uni FYI. I worked my ass off through the entirety of my polytechnic education, and part-timed during university. Also worked full time for a year of internship as part of a work-study program with fair amount of OT. It is really damn tiring to utilize every single cell in your brain for 12-16 hours a day on ends especially in the IT field.

I wish you all the best, but I really am not just looking for a 'rosy' path in life. As long as I have options I will do my best to evaluate them and make an informed decision. This has nothing to do with being picky. I've thrown out hundreds of resumes and done countless of interviews and assessments not just to pick the first offer available just because life should be hard and I should purposely throw myself to sharks teeth for the sake of knowing how hard it could be.
