Agreed. Haven't known anyone less than 15 years experience joining CS as SM. Assuming a graduate age 25, adding 15 years experience and will be around 40 yo. Therefore high potential officers under age 40 obtaining SM/AD is not norm. Title is one factor, salary range at lower or upper is another factor. It depend on the role if a SM/AD/DD is needed.

1) Don't need to factor in age.
2) It's depend on the role you are applying
3) Based on your past experience in fitting into the role
4) To be graded as SM, at least 15 yrs of relevant experience needed with minimum 8 years in managerial / senior / lead role
5) Don't based on your current drawn as the range will be based on given grade

Exactly!

University degree or above: $1800-$2500
Polytechnic diploma or professional qualifications: $1300-$1800
ITE or equivalent: $1,100 - $1,500
(from website)

so to 2.2 OP you still think you're underpaid? obviously $2200 is on the higher end of the traineeship salary range for your qualifications already wad so see it for what it is (traineeship) and appreciate the offer

This could be a norm towards the future for gov. Hiring through traineeship, an extended probation.
In fact, traineeship program is a norm in overseas before actual hiring. Isn't doctor and lawyer went through such scheme as well?

Yup, overseas they call it an apprenticeship which usually pivots the apprentice into the full time, permanent position.

Default low starting salary nus fch fresh grad

(Hello! Sorry, I posted this on another thread. Please let me know if it's ok to do that or not!)

I'm an NUS FCH graduate that recently started work in February at MCI with a gross monthly salary of $3.2K. I know that the 75th percentile has a median salary of $3.9K in my course. I accepted the job because I thought COVID affected the job market and I should just snatch whatever I get, since I'm a really risk-averse guy.

Can someone please advise on whether I should make the attempt to jump ship now? I know I may not land another role, but I'm wondering if I should try. I was going to stick it out for 1 year and then leave, but a person I know in MSF who works as an AD says there's no need to wait, I should jump ship now. I enjoy what I do and I really am grateful for this job, but I'm scared the longer I wait, the more my career will be affected.

Would really, really appreciate any advice. Should I at least attempt to interview at other ministries? I don't know whether jumping ship in just 3-4 months is a really bad look that will also haunt me wherever I go, but I also do need the pay as I'm supporting not just my family but my grandparents.

Thanks!

Only jump after you secure another job offer, otherwise you will jump into $0 every month.

You wanna jump because of pay or job scope? if its because of pay, then you have received bad advice from a clueless AD.. moving within CS is via movement policy and you wont see any pay increment..
