Why you interested to join CS / PS?
Some people in CS/PS look at you salary and dream about coming out to make that kind of salary...LOL

Why not. CS/PS MX9 is lucrative and good job security compared to private sector.

265k and just 14yr of experience? U are better off staying in the private sector.. unless u land on a director and above appointment, dunno which role can match your salary.. and you need to know basic salary generally is not high in PS.. PS dependent on bonuses..

Just curious, when you mention pay cut,is the quantum on an annual basis?
Cos going by some comments, PS can expect 15+ months.
So obviously monthly salary is lower when taking this into consideration

Not quite true for Director level in which I think the average person has a chance of attaining, but probably true for DS and above.
But I estimate that a person who ends up at MX10 (Senior Assistant Director/Deputy Director) in his mid-forties or fifties will probably draw 180k to 200k in a good year, which is not bad considering the job stability at that age.

They will likely end up around 150k, almost no chance of reaching 200k.

Actually is 240kpa. Not yet 265kpa. So is ministry or stat board like LTA etc has better chance for similar pay at director level?
I remember there are many comments here about well paid PS/CS with some even starting pay $5kpm and above. Because I started with less than 2.5 kpm fourteen years ago.

The range of MX10 is between 7k to close to 12k. Assuming a more senior MX10 and a 16-18 month package, that's about 180k PA.
