Haha quite a few trolls and trash posts here. Big problem though is with the lack of transparency about public-service pay. PSD could do much better. At minimum, generic MX salaries should be posted on PSD's website, with the caveat that they vary between different organizations.

There are just so many variations between organizations, even for MX - the so-called unofficial 'tier 1' ministries such as MOF and MTI pay more, while social ministries such as MSF pay less. And then each statutory board has its own payscales, designations, and specialist schemes.

You'd need to both do a busload of research and talk to enough people in the system who're willing to share to get a really good picture of the pay situation across the public service.

Add on that since things have changed from the old days, where 'standard' promotions were seniority/time-based, there is room for even more variation, which then becomes dependent on luck, timing, and being favoured by the right people.

Capping people at MX11A helps to control manpower costs, but it's not great for morale when you see unexperienced scholarship holders being pushed up to MX10 DD level (plus they have additional PSLP allowances on top of the basic MX11A salary) in their early 30s (though the question of course would be whether anyone really cares about the morale of the non-scholarship holders in the first place).
I suppose that's why during the recent MX 2022 salary revision, they widened the pay range for each grade.

Unfortunately, PhDs are quite worthless outside academia. Same goes for Master's degrees.

When talking about the expected salary range after providing my referee,
I was verbally given a range of 3.5k to 4k expected by the hr. This range was below my expected salary range of about 5k+ to 6k+ (after checking on what the range for the role should be)

So i questioned if my research on the range was wrong and was looking for a second opinion

Is it possible that things like relevancy of the qualification bring down the salary that much? Or will the salary differs this greatly depending on which SB it is?

(My degree is not relevant to the role i applied although the JD is relevant TO what I have worked on in my phd research)
that is lower than fresh bachelor grad starting. they are telling you to go away

Leaving uniformed group with 12 YOE at 34 (joined as diploma holder) and a degree and going for interview with another ministry for post of M/SM. My last drawn was $5k before bonuses annual package with special bonuses abt 85-90k.

What should I expect for a M/SM salary in a ministry? 6-6.5k realistic?

Nah, not for diploma holders... Only if you join as degree holder. Hence, why I am leaving after getting my degree
