can't say for all ministry/stat board, but for mine, it's totally fine as long as you tell your superiors about it. i would say most of them will agree as long as you do your work. in fact, most ministries will encourage ppl to upgrade themselves

Ya my ministry gave out market adjustable component instead of salary review to increase the pay. Hence, kinda true that Engineers scheme salary is not taking place. Haiz

I am interested to make a switch from doing something unrelated (compliance) to civil sector. Anybody willing to give me advice on the following:
1) if I'm drawing $5500 now as a manager in compliance, will I still start from fresh grad pay when I move over, assuming doing unrelated work like procurement etc
2) which gov co are more willing to hire mid career switch people like me who are in their mid 30s
Thank you!

Cause I don't want to do compliance anymore, may get outsourced and bonus isn't that great, no chance of promotion too. I'd rather go gov and work till retirement. Do you have any advice for me?
