im assuming the guy who posted started out as MSO 6, since his starting pay was in the 2k's region.
no way in hell u can hit 4k to 5k per mth, unless you achieve the salary ceiling as MSO 5 or got promoted to MSO 4.
i dont think the merger between dip and degree holders under 1 MX scale that DPM Teo Chee Hean mentioned to take place in August will do much to increase the salaries of dip holders.
in fact, it could be much worse as dip holders will have to fight against deg holders under the same MX scheme when it comes to promotion.

Even with the implementation of the new scheme, I doubt dip and degree holder will be competing on the same promotional pass for atleast the first few years.
Dip holders will most probably start on a lower grade, and my guess is that it will take atleast 6-7 years for outstanding dip holders to reach fresh deg grad level. This is to ensure the govenment's ability to attract degree holder into the service.

Ok, you need a reality check. I am in the MX scheme for 4 years, and my salary increment is only a total of $1300. And I am a B performer.

I am now in dip engrg position, pay ard $3. 1k. I also take up part time study n recently juz graduated, but is business degree. Boss show no support for emplacement n only give Cs. I study so hard for the degree, i don't want to waste it by staying put. Thinking of applying for other CS graduate position, i know chances are slim to be call up for interview. Juz incase being called up, how much should i ask for? Will they ask y my boss don't emplace me? If i say the truth, say not all bosses r the same as supportive, will offend them or not.

Strange. That's on the low side for MX.

I dont think the salary that you are asking for matters. Your starting salary depends on the qualification that you are holding.
After graduating, I became jobless for 2 months, while my peers found jobs before they even graduated. I eventually got an interview with a ministry. Being desperate, I asked for 3k/mth, but was offered 3.6k instead.

Prospects after stint in policy role at central Ministry
Hi all,
Just like to enquire about the prospects of being a policy role at a central ministry for a non-scholar. What is the likely career path if most of the supervisory position are helmed by scholars and one has been at MX11 for several years?
Thank you for your inputs.

Depends.
Does your director like you?
Are you smart or at least appear to be smart?
Do you speak and present well?
Do you speak up at meetings with senior management?
Does senior management have a good impression of you?
