In polyclinic starting rank is m.med fp. Auto to AC in 3 years
In hopsital, starting rank is ac, auto to con in 2 to 4 years.

In a way, in poly if u hit con, it's like getting to SC level in hospital.
You need to fight for it.
Of cse..with fellowship ur world is not restricted to poly.
U can go hospital do comm hospital work, transition work.
Then still follow the same ac working rank, auto to con route.

I heard in singhealth, now is no fellowship no AC?
Is that true.

Auto promote to AC? good luck.
We are not like hospital with the resources to auto promote.

Not a FM resident, but I just saw the latest residency intake list for July 2023. Total of 105 FM residents, each SI taking 30 plus R1s.
Even if you take into account the attrition rate and mmed failure rate, guess at least half (15) will make it to mmed. And that is just one year.
If there is no resources to promote these mmeders to AC, then these people just stuck at fp?

you are assuming residency even guarantees you getting a starting job.

It doesn't but as long as u not terrible u will be offered a job.
Many years ago, we though with 70 to 80 resident a year confirm no job
Somehow now we still don't have enuff m.med ops doctor
Btw AC is more or less gauranteed ..unless u screw up big time but you don't have to do anything extra to get it unlike consultant in ops

Hi all,

Received my A-level result and am considering medicine to be my career path. 90 rp so I should at least get an interview for med sch. May I know whats the starting pay and in the long term would I earn more than Investment Banking or Software engineering?

My motivation for joining medicine is because I am a science-inclined student and medicine and law are kinda what look good in the society. I am rather confident of being able to graduate medical school.
