ask yourself:
3 years going through postings with a LOT of assessments
Fail assessments (or ppl done think you are no good) - good luck more assessments and PIP.
admin stuff including research project
After finish residency 50% chance of becoming FP
50% chance of going back to mopex pool as MBBS.

To be fair it's the same with all other residency. If you don't pass the intermediate exam (mrcp/mrcs or masters equivalent), you can't progress to senior resident. You can't pass exits means you can't progress to specialist, and can't exit from residency. Essentially you will be stuck as RP.
Most residency also allow 3 attempts for their final exit exam, just like mmed fm. (Only thing is they may have more than 1 sitting per year, unlike mmed which is a yearly thing, so progress really delayed if don't pass)
But at least fm got a gdfm escape route/private gp route (other speciality don't have)

I read all this feel you all very cham.
Migrate la. Go UK or Australia. Get MRCGP or FRACGP.
SMC recognizes it as equivalent to MMed.

Again very cham.
Not paid enough.
Fam med not paid like specialist.
Other countries it is recognized as a specialty.
Serious. Fam med is not anyone can do one. Peds. Obs. Psych
Ortho. Int med. Geri. Addictions.
Migrate la. You will feel better both recognition and money

Not the same, not the same.

Recognise but got paid same or not..
Dun anyhow lei
U go USA, FM one of the lowest paid speciality but can get job easily la.
Go Australia, their GP all private business, they do make more than specialist if they work hard
Go UK, Gp under NHS make less than consultants

Sg actually pay the m.med FP in polyclinic decently lei.
They get hospital ac pay after 3 year residency compared to 5 for others.
Only problem hard to get full con and above becuase structure flatter.
Salary comparable to non procedure specialist

Again very cham. I hear ya.
OPS want to make it convenient. Govt willing to spend
To provide the services one stop at OPS.
Few countries have such thing as OPS. Primary care.
But got DRP DFS X ray lab pharmacy in same place
Where I practice I send patients for DRP with optometrist.
Not Ophthalmologist.
Sg got robust Optometry sector?
Optometrist is not Optician.
Optometrist practically is the GP for eye. They can rx meds.
They do full eye exam. Hand held lens fundoscopy. Machines for
Retinal photos. IOP measuring.
And most people with work have insurance that covers these costs
Optometrists are well respected. Called dr. And make big bucks.
In many cases MORE thab Fam Physician.
But in SG from what I remember dont have.
Optometrist course is like med school man. 5 years. Then need do fellowship.
Sg Optometrist become Optician only.
Why? MOH spoil market.
So ypu people out there...
If you like health sciences consider these as careers too.
Not just be dr.
But must go overseas. And stay overseas better/best.
Optomterist. You are eye dr except for major eye surgery.
Audiologist. Do hearing tests. Ear exans. Fit hearing aids. Big money
In ang moh countries
Chiropractor. Big big money too. 5 min manipulation. Bill high.
Podiatrist. Foot dr. Include surgery. Zadik op. Wedge resectuon of IGTN
Even do osteotomy to correct Hallux Valgus
Psychologist or Socual Worker that does mental health therapy
Also good money. No need see so many clients a day.
Charge is $200/hr. 1 hr sessions usually. Many different types also
CBT DBT ART ERP Hakomi Experiencing Somatic Experiencing
Internal Family Systems, polyvagal theory, etc etc

SG too controlled. MOH do health care like NTUC does groceries.
How to prosper? You can have Seng Shiong. But Carefour Cold storage all gave up.
OPS so good. So cheap. Is hard to compete.
Thats why end up GP in pte is do simple casem fast. Wait times shorter
More personalized service.
But there is only so much you can do to impress.

OPS has huge advantage.
In SG Obs do most of the normal pegnancy right?
Where I am fam drs do it. From ordering dating scan to performing actual delivery.
You can choose to be an Obs fam dr
Truth is some fam drs also sub specialize
Got fam drs are surgical assists for ortho and gs.
Some are anesthetists in rural
Some are addictions specialists with Opioid Agonist Treatment
Some are mental health trained in therapy
Some do deliveries
Some so alterntive medicine / fringe medicine.
Also got rhose just do usual community practice.
Is much more interesting and fun overseas.
Rewarding financially and professionally too.

Not the same, not the same.
Really ar?
Wah. SG so elitist.
No wonder other ang moh country dont recognize MMed
I think MOH purposely wan. They wan to trap you drs in sg.
More difficult for you all to migrate.
Then OPS and RMG will have enough drs.
Actually I am good with that.
Dowan sg drs come and compete with me. Lol.

Ppl can sit mrcs and mrcp anytime before or during residency.

Specialist training is longer. Harder.
P3f course soecialist get paid more.
I am doing ok. Average between 300 to 400k a year.
No nights. No weekends.
I am willing to work weekends.
But other staff eg receiptionst and nurse not willing
And their OT v expensive
I have also sub specialize over the years
Very small niche market
I get specialists referring to me.
Can bill speicalist code if got referral letter from another dr gp or specialist
There is a lot more outside of sg.
Thats my point.
I hear you all bitch about mmed (useless exam outside of sg and OPS)
Worry about 200k when house landed in sg is in millions.
Makes me sad for y'all
