Surely for every procedure (e.g ogd/pci) that you do, you get a premium/part of the procedure fee?
Otherwise who will stay in public sector?

Plenty of docs staying in public even There is no more pfs.

Pte sector is saturated my friend.
There is no business.
Why is that so?
1) The problem is nobody wants to pay cash for pte service.
2) And ip insurance plans dont empanel the majority of the pte doctors.

So we are surviving on a very small subset of fee paying patients.
So in the end to get empanelled by ip, you must agree to charge very low fees then ip plans will pay. Then the patients that have ip plan will come to your clinic.
3) no foreign tourist

Because of the dire situation in pte side, more ppl willing to stay to in public

i dont have anything against nurses.. but seriously speaking the nature of their work is not comparable to doctors - not the difficulty nor the responsibility it carries. all they do is take instructions from doctors. dispense meds, take vital signs, "pass report", clean patients up etc. IMHO even radiographers and sonographers have more skill - they need to know how to do ultrasound, scan CT/MRI and all its complexities.

back to the main point - drs are under appreciated and underpaid (those under MOHH anyway).
I think nowadays there's more foreigner/Malaysian docs in charge of MOHH who's more concerned about KPIs than the welfare and salaries of our junior doctors..

in this case, the pay bump from Reg to A/Con is pretty huge isnt it? I havent really had a chance to ask about Reg pay but last I heard its ~$8k?

Also how about this ortho FRCS-ed who are serving as service reg awaiting a/con position, are they paid a/con pay also? or still continue drawing reg pay and doing all sort of saikang.

Reg pay is about 8-10k (depending on seniority and no. of calls you do).. take it from me, I am one haha.

AC pay will vary depending on what spec you're in. People say the salary jump from Reg to AC will be the largest in your career - and this is true. I know what the ACs in my spec are getting and its way more than what I'm getting.

Ahhh interesting! I am too junior to ask about such stuff in person hahahaha

I presume the surgical guys get the most jump once they FRCS-ed?

Also is the jump because there's more variable components to the pay now? e.g. extra appointment allowance etc.

Not so sure abt that
From quite a few friend of mine who are reg/ac. Reg earns about 8-9k on average (more if you do more calls)
Ac basic pay is Ard 13k, probably can hit 15 in total with add ons.
Think con and senior con can earn much more? (At least 20-30k depending on speciality?)

How much does a consultant family physician earn in a polyclinic? Do they earn more in a hospital?

Default Working hours

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know the weekly schedule for a doctor who’s already a specialist?
I guess in each department and hospital is different, but I would like to have a general idea, when do you usually start and finish at the hospital.
Thank you
