M5 here. when will I be eligible to apply for residency? isit only after serving 1 year as a HO? and am I supposed to find referees from my MOPEX posting?

i think she's considered pg4 alr. i also dunno why she keep trying. got glory in being a MO for so long meh.

Can only apply during HO year for entry as baby MO (ie PGY2). I was the last batch who could still apply as medical student (but still didnt get in lol)

Depends on which residency. ENT/neurosurg/plastics notorious for having PGY4+ starting as R1s...

Actually doctors are really great. I think it’s harder than law
I don’t think I can ever stomach seeing someone die on the operating table

Dying on operating table does not happen often. If the patient is not fit for surgery they should not be on the operating table in fhe first place.
Surgeon and anesthetist will not agree to go ahead. Also all death on operating table becomes coroner case and puts both surgeon and anesthetist in the hot seat for possible negligence and malpractice lawsuit.
Seeing people die in ER is probably what you were referring to which is common.
