My advice is to just take what you can get; when the market recovers then jump somewhere that pays you what you are worth

Acceptable if hours are not too bad. Otherwise, it doesnt really make sense.

This. Better than being jobless or having to explain a non-law related position.
Even if in-house, difficult to come back into private practice after.

Tech company got $$$$.
You know the company behind shopee?
They just donated 50 millions to NUS.

Which lawyer firm got that money to donate?
Tech is much better than lawyer this age and onwards.

It's sad that lawyer are no longer prestige.

That bad now? Some years back (mid 2010s), a NUS law grad can easily find a job, just a matter of big firm to Chinatown firm.

Yes. And in the legal industry, tech and IP law are booming.

Meanwhile, family law and conveyancing are on a steep decline. The amount of undercutting is just insane.

You got to admit it. Law is no longer as prestigious as it used to be. Now it's all about tech, tech and tech.

In my time an NUS second lower could get multiple big 4 offers. Back then we had the training contract "moratorium" system. Which was pretty dumb in hindsight but it was what it was. Laojiaos will know what I'm talking about

Anyway I blame the kiasu parents for flooding the market by sending your kids overseas when they can't make it to local law school. But then again in my time, starting law salaries weren't really all that hot.

Stop being strawberries and suck it up, or quit and do other things. Nobody is forcing you to be a lawyer with a gun to your head. I'm now a business owner and couldn't be happier. Both lawyers and programming code monkeys work for me.

Yes I mean all this **** talk/bragging about schools resemble frogs in a well arguing over whose medula oblongata is bigger. Law is a sunset industry. Yes, the world needs lawyers. But the world does not need that many.

Let's be real. All this bickering shows that the market is saturated and long gone are the golden days. Ask any senior lawyer.

Go to tech oil finance or drop shipping. That's where the real money is, and money talks. Anyone worth a hoot could hire a better lawyer than you ever will be, regardless of what you say about his school
