Reaching 6k in 5 years is very unlikely. More like around 5k.

Can I also add how the 5k is reached after 5 years?
Seems like a rather slow progression to me.
Assuming start at 3.7k, seems like it's $200-300 annual increment per year? And this is assuming no promotion where a pay jump is expected?

Different min/SB offers different starting pay. For instance, MFA can offer up to 5K for FSO but heard CPF offers less than 3.5K ( caveat: not sure true or not but this is from another thread).

Hi, thanks for this. The previous poster was replying to a question explicitly on MOM

As a context, fresh grad this year from local uni with a second upper and completed NS
Was offered two roles, one at SB and the other at a Ministry.
Both were non-specialist roles.
SB offered slightly higher compared to Ministry which offered $3.7 (MX-13 grade)

Anyone have experienced when changing Ministry / starboard? Do you get an increment for taking other role that you find in Carrer.gov or do they freeze your pay while undertaking the new role?

Sorry i replied to your post. Im not from MOM. Maybe my ministry pays higher? Not sure cannot comment.
Its true that different agencies pegs the salaries differently, and there are different schemes (eg Foreign service, engineers, economists, statisticians, teaching etc). Hard to compare across agencies.

Hi original poster here, economics major but I don't think that played a role in determining the pay.
The ministry was MOM but the Ministry should not be a factor given that it was a not a specialist route (i.e. same pay across Ministry's under the MX scheme)

Wow 4K that’s pretty low. I am expecting about 6K for my years of experience. as fresh grad already 3.5k+. didn’t know they low ball candidates. Btw possible to counter offer of offer is low? If counter offer must we produce payslip or must we submit payslip when applying? Currently drawing 5.5k as a senior operations manager.
How’s the increment and promotion? Position offered is 2 years contract, and able to convert to perm? This kind of 2 years contract roughly how long will it take for my probation period. Any increment after probation?
Also on avg in CS can get about 16 mths in total?

My guess is that they will offer u around 4K. Because i have a friend who is in the private sector with a local uni degree. He was offered 4K+ though he was getting 8K+ outside. 'Was' because the deal did not go through. haha.
How much are u getting at the moment and what are u currently working as?
