What do people do when they get home on weekdays and on weekends? I personally spent most of my time playing computer games or lying in bed watching videos, football etc. Even if you have family, doesn't mean you have to spend every second of your weekend/weekday evenings with them?

I agree that call is tiring, but not sure if working 8-5 on weekends or weekday evening shifts (till 9pm) is really that bad). I am in my late 30s (not exactly the youngest but I am single- disclaimer).

I am employed by a chain group on a 44hr contract, I know I don't earn as much as specialist or the mmeder ACs in ops/head of ops etc; but the pay is reasonably decent to support myself (at least). Honestly, I don't find the hrs that bad, and obviously I get to avoid all the admin work, teaching responsibility etc in the public sector.
precisely cos u single and relatively young.
when i am swinging single in my 20s work EOD overnight shift then go out drinking also can. Sleep 5 hours , drink kopi tilo then carry on. Stand there do 4 hour surgery also tank through.
now i 40s, sleep late 1 hour next day also lethargic liao.
got kids and aging parents. You want to spend time with both of them and evening shift and weekend really precious time.

teaching not bad what. bit gratifying. My fridge filled with tons of pictures with medical student and thank you cards over the years.

hired GP life is ok la. Decent salary for the work. To each his own.
reality is 12K or 15K your life no difference.
work is work, earn money , live your life well

I noticed you never talked about retiring. Fitting.

Yes work and live well to the end.

Thats the story for doctors.

Lawyers and Bankers retire at around age 55 to 60.

Well yeah you're single and it also sounds like you don't really have much of a social life.

You lie in bed watching video's and play video games. Not everyone do that during their free time. A lot of people want to go out with friends, work on their hobbies, etc.

some doctors become doctors to help people as they find a deeper meaning behind their life and purpose

others become doctors because parents said "go be doctor, make $$$" and they wonder why they are miserable as f**k, working on weekends like dogs while some fresh grad CS retard earns the same $$ u do with 1/4 of the work.

I also see insurance agent say they very happy help people
Make sure they are covered if get sick. Family is covered if
Something happen to them.
Lawyer also help people.
Financial advisor also help people plan for retirement
Property agent also help people find homes
Nurse also help people
Maid also help people cook wash and care

HAHAHAHA

tell that to the thousands of twitter employees who earned 150k+ in LCOL areas while doing 2 hours of work a day since 2019 and got fired in 2022 with 6 months severance package LOL they earned more than any of us with 1/4 of the work they did.

What's even funnier is that with a big name like Twitter on their resume, they can hop to any big tech company, do maybe 2/4 of work this time instead of 1/4 and earn close to their last drawn salary or higher.

I meant helping as in "saving" lives.

sorry if that wasn't clear.
