HO salary 3.6k.
Making 4 times Ur salary is not a joke, its real.
Ur consultant in hospital easily makes 5 times what u earning or more and they seem to do nothing right?
The private gp need to do a lot of work lei.
Open clinic where bao jiak ? This is not the 80s.
Nope as simple as patient like you they come back.
If u depend on that kind of traffic, u cannot tong long, becuase u need pay v high rent for those place and u aiming the MC seeking crowd. The market alread too saturated for that.
I don't see why it's demoralising.
Are u expecting to be paid 12k on graduation?

Think what the op means, it seems that being paid 12k 1 year post graduation (i.e baby mo) is very possible. (Just join a chain grp lo)

I think one of the sad things about Singapore healthcare is that public and private services are almost mutually exclusive. I.e one can't work for a public and a private institution (at least not officially anyway), hence there will always be pay comparision. This is among all specialities (not just fm).
I guess at the end of the day, with current inflation rate, we are all mercenaries lah (who doesn't want more money lol).
Fp who earns 8-9k will compare with private chain gps (13-14k)
Private chain gps will compare with those opening their own clinic (? 30-40k depending on your business acumen)
Public specialist will also compare with private specialist...
End of the day, we all want money over patient care..

I just walked past a chain in Kovan. So busy on a sat night.
I pity the Gp need to work weekend
My polyclinic colleagues are resting at home, enjoying fam life
The gp clinic boss need capital and need to assume risk.
Nothing comes free. You want money, work hard for it

I don't get it. Is working weekend and evening shifts really that bad? If total amount of hours worked per week is the same overall (44hr work week)
What do people do when they get home on weekdays and on weekends? I personally spent most of my time playing computer games or lying in bed watching videos, football etc. Even if you have family, doesn't mean you have to spend every second of your weekend/weekday evenings with them?
I agree that call is tiring, but not sure if working 8-5 on weekends or weekday evening shifts (till 9pm) is really that bad). I am in my late 30s (not exactly the youngest but I am single- disclaimer).
I am employed by a chain group on a 44hr contract, I know I don't earn as much as specialist or the mmeder ACs in ops/head of ops etc; but the pay is reasonably decent to support myself (at least). Honestly, I don't find the hrs that bad, and obviously I get to avoid all the admin work, teaching responsibility etc in the public sector.

So little?
12 years ago A&E paying $120/hr.
Over time physician salaries tend to not fare well vs inflation.
