Grand T = 253,220.40

So after 12 years at standard progression of salary will hit 250k a year after 12 years of passing MMed.

Maybe there are some other bonus perks I am unaware of. But it is definitely realistic. I do think that the 250-300k mark is probably the limit though.

like OP says 400k is for the CEO.
respect for sharing!

Quick browse through the forum. Some interest and abit of misinformation about specialist renumeration in restructured hospital. Currently a 2nd yr C in the Grand Old Dame. One of the better paid specialties but not the best for sure. Renumeration breakdown is as such:

Base pay: Starts around 10k pm for AC. Annual increment is based on this figure (NOT the total take home pm). Add around 2-3K pm for each jump from AC to C to SC. I believe this is harmonized in the hospital (may be even cluster) for all specialists.

Clinical allowance: Differs widely from dept to dept within the hospital. Can be also quite different even between same speciality but different hospital. For example Ortho in KKH vs Ortho SGH. In very broad terms, this component is somewhat correlated to how much of a revenue generator the dept is for the hospital. Also the reason why the surgical subspecs are generally better paid compared to non-procedural specialties. Hospital can change this figure year to year without warning (has happened before). For AC this amount is around 6-8k pm.

So monthly gross renumeration is base + allowance: approx 16-18k pm.
I do not have a exact amount for every specialty in the hospital .... but most will be within a +/- 30% spread of the figure above.

HOD, PD, Div Chair etc - they get abit extra. Around 2-3k pm I think.

Call/Extra Hrs/Locum - If I am not wrong its pegged at the official hospital callback rate. Some specialties a lot of after hrs callback, some zero.

Bonuses - Every hospital will be slightly different. Paid out at very odd intervals through out the year. Almost every 2-3 month got some kind of bonus. Roughly can break down into:

- AWS
- Performance bonus
- random KPI bonus (not individual, but at dept level)
- Dept bonus ..... the most shady. Varies very widely amongst depts, to the point where there are those that are communist (everyone share equally from AC to SC) to those that are heavily skewed towards SC, cannibalising on AC/junior C work.

Total annual gross salary. As AC I hit around 250-275K. C around 350-400K. My dept SC are prob around 400-500k. Before tax. total salary can be as much as 10-15% difference even between same seniority colleagues in same dept same FTE due to bonuses/call/extra hrs etc.

What does all this mean in real world terms??? Its comfortable, even as sole breadwinner with 2 kids. Most of my colleagues drive Conti cars, stay condo/small landed, 2-3 overseas holidays per yr with fam. Work-life balance is decent. Even with calls/after office hrs, I still work less per hr compared to some of my friends in law/finance. Of course I realize that this comparison is very very general.

Recalculating the path to 250k for MMed in OPS

8.6k plus 1.25 is the start.

1st year
8.6X12 = 103,200
8.6X1.25=10,750
Total = 113,950
Plus CPF contribution by employer = 17%X6000x12 = 12240
Grand total = 126,190

2nd year increase by 6%
9.12X12 = 109,440
9.12*1.25 = 11,400
Total = 120,840
CPF = 12240
Grand total = 133,080

3rd year increase by 6%
9.67*12 = 116,040
9.67*1.25 = 12,087.50
Total = 128,127.50
CPF = 12240
Grand total = 140,367.50

4th year increase by 6%
10.25*12 = 123,000
10.25*1.25 =12,813
Total = 135,813
CPF = 12240
Grand Total = 148,053

5th year increase by 6%
10.865*12 = 130,380
10.865*1.25 = 13,581.25
Total = 143,961.25
CPF = 12240
Grand Total = 156,201.25

6th year increase by 6%
11.52*12=138,240
11.52*1.25=14,400
total = 152,640
CPF = 12240
Grand Total = 164,880

7th year increase by 6%
12.21*12=146,534.40
12.21*1.25=15,262.50
total = 161796.90
CPF = 12240
Grand total = 174,036.90

8th year increase by 6%
12.94*12=155,311
12.94*1.25 = 16,175
total = 171,486
CPF = 12240
Grand Total = 183,726

9th year increase by 6%
13.72*12=164,596.80
13.72*1.25=17,150
total = 181746.80
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 193,986.80

10th year increase by 6%
14.54*12=174,518.40
14.54*1.25=18,175
Total = 192,693.40
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 204,933.40

11th year increase by 6%
15.41*12=184,948.80
15.41*1.25=19,262.50
Total = 204,211.3
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 216,451.30

12th year increase by 6%
16.33*12=196,015.20
16.33*1.25=20,412.50
Total = 216,427.70
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 228,667.70

13th year increase 6%
17.31*12=207,717.60
17.31*1.25 = 21,637.50
Total = 229,355.10
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 241,595.10

14th year increase 6%
18.35*12 = 220,183.20
18.35*1.25 = 22,937.50
Total = 243,120.70
CPF = 12240
Grand T = 255,360.70

So after 14 years at standard progression of salary will FINALLY hit 250k a year. 14 years after passing MMed.

Maybe there are some other bonus perks I am unaware of. But it is definitely realistic. I do think that the 250-300k mark is probably the limit though.

At the 5 year mark the base is about $156k and that is if every year of the first 5 years is top performer with 6% increase in monthly base pay the following year. So got additional bonus of around 100k? Is it possible?

like OP says 400k is for the CEO.

Actually in this case MMed in SG is actually quite poor compared to other first world countries family physicians.

HO here. Seniors quitting left right Center and breaking their bonds to go private open their own clinics etc. Some joked that they make 4 times what I make.. very demoralising… not sure how the math works out, but to pay down their bonds, it must be true right? If so, AC 250k doesn’t seem like a big deal at all. Anyone can help shed some light thanks
