What are the benefits of being double accredited in IM + subspecialty? Why is it an extra 2 years required to be certified in IM on top of basic IM training

IM is basically just a GP in the hospital.
See everything. Refer everywhere. Coordinate care. Lowest pay.

Dude there is zero benefit
Most subspec in hosp must also run IM wards, like at least cover one week per month

It is a chore
Most endo , renal , respiratory need to cover IM

And only use local mmed + 18 mths practice

It's none of the hospital in Malaysia is good enuff to be accredited as training site for FRCS
