I think most of us primary care dr is stuck in this job cos cant find anytjing better financially
Or not brave enough to change
Few truly happy hearing same old complaints and unhappiness and goving same old answers one by one to each patient
Super boring
The patients we remember are those that damn chow kuan or abusive
Nice patient is like heng ar and very rare honestly
If they give gift like chocolate also got to worry can or not? Wait someone report to SMC jia lat.

You remind me of SMC. I guess all doctors speak perfectly in proper english and write in proper sentences too. Must maintain a level of respect and decorum at all times both during and outside of work.

Which chain? It is starting to be the norm. There is more supply of GPs than demand.

Overseas IMG here (studying in UK, final year now planning to return in sep this year
Am I correct to say that in Singapore, private and public healthcare are completely 2 different ecosystem (esp for gps but also specialists as well)
And if one decides to go private, they should do so at the earliest opportunity (i.e immediately after attainment of consultant for specialist, and attainment of full reg in case of gps)

A bit of a random qn to ask in this thread. Currently working as a ho (into my 2nd posting). Do people here find that female bosses (reg/con) tends to be more demanding/fierce/particular about things (e.g documentation, wanting things stat etc). They also seem to ask more qn and scold more when you make referrals to them.
Not trying to be sexist, but this is how I felt 4.5 mths into the job. (I am generally a chilllax person, finds it stressful to work with intense people lol)

Yes indeed. Sometimes it is because the female reg and cons could have PMDD
Which the men do not.
I dont know what the ratio of male to female senior staff is like now in med vs surg
But last time surg fields much less women so the politics tend to be more clear cut shoot from hips during rounds etc.
Medical grand ward rounds and rounds can be very insidious in the way the female reg and cons go about things. They will have their favorite HOs and MOs and the ones they hate and dislike.
So got to try to be on their good books.
Say what you want you got to appeal to the feminine side.
Eg praise them for new hairstyle or outfit or shoes. Be sincere in thanks for their help. Buy some kopi or starbucks (find out what they drink)
Little gestures lah. They are human. Medicine is about dealing wirh people.
Patients. Senior staff. Nursing staff. Admin staff. If everyone like you , you cant go wrong.

men usually lower intellect so cant be bothered
women high intellect so tend to nit-pick
