Don't really care about going into big law firms. I just want to practise law in Singapore as a Malaysian. Please help. Am I being realistic here?
Suss not a chance. They don’t accept foreigners as they are under purview of minlaw. Don’t even talk abt interview lol. Your best bet is SMU. But very very low chance to fight with all the smartest ppl in Singapore.

Browsing Reddit and the sgexams subreddit keeps coming up. Funny to see the law admissions across both schools are still competitive as ever despite all the horror stories of the industry. Vicious cycle I suppose. Also funny that the young’uns still view SMU < NUS. Guess that perception hasn’t changed down the generations

are you blind. a quick perusal of the usual sgexams reddit would show you that for every 1 post asking about law or med, there are 6 posts asking about cs or comp eng which is now even more competitive.

good i say. young ambitious students should study STEM and go into tech and build something to change societies. lawyers r paper pushers that bring little value, much like bankers and consultants. and i say this as a lawyer who entered local law with near straight As more than 10 years ago, at the height of its prestige.

What a stunning and revolutionary thought! You are right! All lawyers at the bottom of the ocean! Screw this profession amirite! Only dumb asses for law school!
