Saw that Dechert is having a 5% global cut after a 3% revenue & 16% PEP decline YOY, other international firms also making cuts
Do you guys think that Sg firms will do the same? or are they slightly more insulated

sinkie firms do not generally cut people (can't exclude other forms of constructive or stealth dismissals/forcing out of certain lagging performers to trim ranks), but they will reduce pay or bonuses.
international firms don't generally touch compensation because for some reason it looks worse than slashing an army of people wholesale.
its just differences in norms.

That's why sinkie firms muddle along with low profits and low salary. They are not ruthless and profit-oriented enough to shed the deadweight when needed.

yes. and as you move up the ranks, you'll realize that most of the deadweight in terms of actual impact on firm's financials, is concentrated at the partner level
