Hello! I moved to the UK from a big4 and the firm that hired me was happy to take me without UK qualification and they paid for me to sit for the QLTS (both exam + course fees).

How long did you stay in the Big4 and what was your practice area before your move? How do you find practice over the other side of the world?

I was in the Big4 as a banking trainee, moved as an NQ. Am enjoying my time here, work culture here is generally quite pleasant. Still do late nights but not as bad as when I was in Singapore.

Working in London isn’t as glamorous as you would think. Especially nowadays. There are a lot more to factor in than the number of your pay check. It’s an extremely depressing world to work in, for one.

Wow inspiration. Share more in your free time. I have been trying but it seems I’ve reached a dead end

I'd be happy to share more privately but I don't think there's a way you can reach out to me directly on this platform, is there? Am not very familiar as it's my first time posting.
And with regards to London not being as glamorous, yes I definitely agree! One thing I'd definitely stress to anyone looking to make a move to London is that your reasons for wanting to move should NOT include the money (bc tax here sucks you'd earn more in intl firm in singapore) or prestige (because let's face it, being a lawyer really isn't that prestigious). If you like the UK, want a change of scenery for a couple of years or would like a slightly better work-life balance, then by all means do it.

Pay for 1 pqe
How much should i expect for a 1 pqe in a small-mid sized firm? im currently earning $4k but i think that's really underpaying at this time but ive been told by people that i should be earning $5k+ which seems a bit excessive in this market... what is a fair rate to ask?

4K is on the low side even for an NQ in a small firm. Do yourself a favour and get out.
