How much is my market worth?
Hi,
I am currently working as a Project Engineer at this local company since July 2010. My job is about project management, from mointoring the progress to liasing with authorities, clients and contractors, managing the cashflow of contractors' claims. Besides applying electrical knowledge to my work, my job requires me to understand all types of mechanical services and equipments and basic civil understanding.
I graduated from Nanyang Technological University( NTU) with Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic) in 2010.
My starting pay was $2,600 and currently I'm taking home $3,100. There is AWS(13th month) bonus and average 2 months of Performance Bonus.
So I would like to know what is my market worth right now. Please advice me.
Thanks!

what happened is we grad at a bad time, so we start low, start low + low increment = crapped. last year he found out a fresh grad got higher pay then him, so he went to kpkb management and got a 1050increase.
He is civil project mgt btw, ntu 2.2

Wah that's alot of increment! My gpa is around your friend. However my industry is more towards M&E and I would need to go to construction sites as well. FYI I'm at the owner side, I am not from main contractor neither from sub contractor. Therefore I believe my company should have "bigger pocket" to pay the engineers.
Recently I have found out that a fresh grad ( NTU mechnical) who joined my company and starting pay around $3K.
I felt so unbalanced and try to apply for jobs. However, most of the companies are offering me what my company is giving me now. That's crap. Usually people will "jump" over with the minimum increment of 10%.

My apologies. I didn't mention properly. My salary is $3,100 before CPF reduction, taking home $2480.

You mentioned local company meaning SME? Imo, the salary is not too low considering that it is a SME. That is the range paid by SME and in about 2 years you already have a salary increment of 500 dollars which is kinda decent. AWS + average PB = 3 months is comparable to public sector and even better than some other MNCs with no bonus. If you have the intention of entering the public sector, it is likely they will offer you something higher but career progression could be stagnant based on class of hons. However, if you prefer work life balance, it is not a bad idea to enter public sector then. If I were you, I might try my luck by applying to MNC.
