Its very interesting how teachers in schools can be very negative of their higher ups. In hq it's very different. It's pretty clear that the higher you go the more of a no lifer you are. Late nights and burnt weekends are all too common.

Why is it so difficult to be recognised with better PB, promotions, positions as a non scholar, despite slogging for so long? Disillusioned. Yes, people will say suck it up, stop living in your bubble and do something about it, that's life, so deal with it. That's why we have news like the spf sgt.

Way to go making news like that all about you. Are you suffering from trivial discrimination in your job as a teacher?

Scholars are privileged. They are funded for their education and given an accelerated career pathway, simply because someone liked them in an interview when they were 18. Between grooming a scholar as expected or a non-scholar who is probably of a different background from you, the system is working as intended.

Which year was your OPE and was there many weeks in between your interview and knowing your results? How come your heard from your branch in late August and yet they did not confirm your position?
Thank you

That means while application closes in mid July, there is still time for schs/HQ to conduct interviews or review the applicants. I did not hear from my branch till late Aug, even then my position was not confirmed till October, so it really depends.

My OPE was in 2020 and I was returning from NPL. I was told that some checks had to done with regards to my suitability as the info they had was my submitted cv. Officers on npl do not apply through hrp but directly via email. I had my interview in late July, received phonecall in Aug that they were keen but no news until October. I just presumed if there was no news about OPE then I would wait for a posting from HR to any available school.

Scholars did very well in their studies and had extensive CCAs and other experiences to show that they are well rounded individuals. It's very petty of you to say that it's just about someone liking you in an interview. You must be a really bitter person.

OPE deadline is for the schools/hq units/secondment orgs to post their vacancies

It is NOT the deadline for staff to accept offers.

The various units will shortlist and interview people on the list until the vacancies are filled. This process might well continue until late Aug.

After they cleared everyone on the list, or if they manage to fill the position, then the OPE cycle is officially concluded. Whichever units that still have unfilled positions will then move into close posting exercise.

Because of how OPE is structured, where both the units and applicants have to compete on a first come first served basis, there is a huge element of luck involved.
E.g. A less capable candidate who applied earlier, got interviewed earlier, and accepted earlier, will get the position over a more capable candidate who maybe applied later, or hesitated in accepting the offer because they are waiting for other better offers.

Good luck for those who are still going to try for closed posting later.
