Default Ope

Just a question about OPE, is there a number of applicants stated per post? That is, is it time sensitive or is it that you will get to register your interest as long as you apply within the window?

Schools/branches are not required to wait until the end of the application window before interviewing candidates and making offers. Some popular positions get many applicants within a couple of hours of the start of OPE. The interviews may start shortly, and sometimes offers are made on the spot.

To maximise your chances, you should apply as soon as possible to the positions that you want. You can always deliberate on whether to accept the offer later on. It doesn't hurt to go for more interviews, you learn something from every one of them even if you don't get offered/don't accept their offer. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice!

We will not know what is available until the start of the window right? Cos I have a branch in mind but I don't know if they require new blood there.

You could always ask somebody who is in the branch, or write in to someone in the branch to ask. If they can't tell you, they'll let you know as much, but either way you've got nothing to lose by expressing your interest in a polite and sincere manner.

If you don't ask, then yup, you'll only know when OPE opens.

But a good estimate will be around 6+k to 7k gross monthly, with all the bonuses, should be near 100k like what the other poster has mentioned.

Good performers should reach this 6+k in their 7th year or so. And by 10th year, depending on whether they have positions, they should at least reach GEO5 and probably even near the ceiling.
Not really true. I'm an average performer, pass degree, 7YOE. Spent the first 4 years of my career with Cs. Only past 3 years get more than that. Promoted to GEO4 in 2024, getting 6+k. Good performers should be getting more.

Don't mind me asking. Are you female?

Weird leh. I not good performer, average male teacher. 6.3k. Pass degree some more. What do you guys mean by good performer? Shouldn't "good performer" be like KP material and going down ST/Leadership track? These guys should have increased CEP levels, hence be promoting faster than the average joe.

You must be male and above average.

I think the post was for generic and average (all C's only).

If past 3 years u get B above, u not average already. Ur first part of career got some will be default C promos. So it's wrong to consider urself as average

Average is every year either C or C+

Also, the geo4 ceiling is 7.7k.

People drawing 6-6.5k are still far from the ceiling. Even if you get B every year, you need at least 5-6 merit increments to hit the ceiling if you dont get promoted.

Is there anyone who had experience as an SH Special Projects? I know it can be seen as a portfolio where you get sai kang, but are there also positives to taking up such a portfolio?
