yes definitely. with your YOE, you should be looking at ~10k.

8 year relevant exp should get u about 12-15k

Hmm ok. Also, HR said that they need to put up the offer to Senior Management and wants me to confirm the offer first before they do so. They say it won’t look good on me if I subsequently reject. I suppose they mean I will get blacklisted, but if eventually I don’t join them, no harm done right? Is this appropriate practice even?

i've been in both. one thing's for sure is that i had alot more recruiters/headhunters reach out to me when I was at CS. whether or not that's "valuable" is subjective though.
