That's a huge discount for the current market rate and probably will be a humiliating experience. Imagine all your same rank colleagues earn far more than you and one day they accidentally know your pay. Try to negotiate it better with some other offers.

Do not always believe what your peers claim to be getting.

Some deliberately inflate their pay to show off.

Some may covet your job and hope you resign.

The payslips can also be faked.

How could it is E5 with 3 years experience, ST normally give E6 with 1+ years experience. Are you only holding diploma? The starting salary for scholars fresh graduate is around 6.5k though, even SIM graduate also got 5k-6k.

With private degree.. now fresh grad salary so high ? 6.5k. Last year 2023 NTU fresh grad getting 4.8k ..high chance is true as fresh grad keep discussing their salary during first week e-learning and seem like everyone getting the same. High change fresh grad wonít liar.

Agree. Or they may view you as potential competitor for next promotion so try to eliminate you first. No colleague is truly your friend. Even bosses can be insecure!

Don't believe the figures cited w/o evidence.
Even recent surveys do not show such high figures.

Cool story bro, I had been working in ST for decades, never once there is a batch intake of NTU fresh grad at the same week or even month. Mostly, the employee is hired one by one each month for each department and the fresh grads are always strictly follow the HR policy to not discuss their salaries. The old guy also doesn't like to talk about their salaries since the yearly increment for most of the years and thus the risk to be lower than fresh grad.
The starting pay for E5 scholars is already 5500 and above for 7-8 years ago. For fairness, salary transparency should be implemented but looking at ST on their policy which fresh grad could outearn old guy, this is impossible at the moment.

Maybe different BU but there is mass hiring during certain months as turnover rates increase. But I heard recently freeze hiring. Fresh hire will be put together during first week for briefing that how we know each other and naturally discuss salary secretly during lunch break or with your colleagues that intake few month before you. I see some people quit few weeks after finding out they got low ball by HR. At least they know the truth and quit or not is their choice. We need to respect that.
